Today I drew loneliness and self-delusion. It was a fascinating story arc that I could throw threw 4 to 6 issues and feel like I'd really expressed something. My art is funny that way. I do one of the extremes: humor or dark, but they both express so much. There's uncertainty and risk in all of our behaviors, but the glory comes in the leap.

For me this means pushing for a dream to come true, something I promised myself a looong time ago.

I'm happy again...

Recent turns have reminded me of so much love in the world: friends and family working hard to keep a tiny bubble in their existence alive, afloat. We know that we are not alone in these turbulent times. After so much misery...

Hope.

Lessons of the past

During these economic times I feel it important to review the resolution of the Great Depression: The New Deal.

What was implemented by the government? Among other things, public works. This provides us with the primary lesson of The Great Depression:

"Helping others helps ourselves."

That quote is mine, by the way. A chicken in every pot will only happen when we determine that, as Americans, we need to stick with each other. This is also the most effective way for us to help the rest of the world.

Love is all around...

This is a place for me to be happy and find joy in those things in life that I just haven't been paying too much attention to of late.

I love books, and I'm surrounded by them. Every room in my house except the bathroom has a bookshelf, and the living room is wall-to-wall. It makes me happy in ways I cannot express.

I enjoy writing and being given the opportunity to write on any topic. That kind of liberation is rare and beautiful.

I like the lack of self-doubt. The sense of purpose I have right now. If I thought I could fix my life so that this was a permenant state, I'd be all sorts of happy.
